Sweet Honey in the Rock
Founded in 1973, Grammy award winning Sweet Honey in the Rock performs “music with a message”. This African American a cappella and percussion ensemble offers breathtaking excursions into harmony singing with music deeply rooted in African-American church-spirituals, hymns, gospel as well as jazz and blues. Their style which mimics West African polyphonic chanting creates an ever increasing arabesque of rhythm that is rich, energetic and extremely intense.
